We All Have Some Privilege; So Start Taking Advantage of it

As a WHITE MIDDLE CLASS WOMAN

I feel like I could choose to fall on either side of this “so called” argument.... this could easily be a female disadvantage point of veiw.... or I could talk about my families struggles as a child... or being overweight and over coming bad eating habits and excessive exercise... or a verbally and substance abusive relationships...or sexual harassment I have experienced... or being 1 of 2 white girls on track team with 75 other women working for a scholarship as a non minority.....or you name it.... I have had plenty of struggles in my life that I have over come... but it all comes down to privilege

MY Privilage: I am white, I have 2 still married parents, even when I didn’t fully speak to them for a year I knew I had a safety net. I have never been “hungry”, my mom stayed home as a child, I recieved a scholarship to a D1 university....

These are only some types of privilege and personally the ones I have experienced

Privilage is not a specifically defined or even necessarily tangible thing...

everyone’s privilage is different just like everyone’s struggles are different

....and it is all relative!

the struggle and privilege of a white middle class female American is going to be starkly different and even difficult for some to understand.

but instead pointing privilege fingers and struggle comparisons....

I think its time we focus on owning our privileges as much as our struggles

use what ever privilege you have and climb from it.

No matter where you fall on the privilege line up... own it.

Take the positive aspect of your life and use it to its fill potential

If your privilege is that you qualify for something that someone doesn’t make the best of it work harder do better taking full advantage of it.

We no longer live in a communal society, we live in a global one.

I have met people who cannot understand focusing on a community outside their own neighborhood but I have been privileged enough to have the sight and reach to go and feel much further and bigger things. This I do not feel guilty for because it allows me to focus on a bigger picture.

My privilege allows me to have more time, a unique perspective, and an influence. The best thing anyone can do with their privilege is us it to help others regardless of their privilege or their struggle.

I guess what I am trying to say is:

Take YOUR life and look for the good

No matter YOUR age grow as much as you can

Do as much as YOU can

STOP comparing

you will always have it worse than someone and better than soneone

Be YOU

Big or small
Have an IMPACT

and since this is a fitness website.... be healthy while you do it... it all goes together
