A lesson in practice what I preach

As you all know, I am pretty honest about how I feel and what I think, for example when I am a struggling with things easier said then done.... So lets talk about just that.

I always tell my clients to rest or take a step back in training if they have an event or something else coming up.

Or even if it is simply the fact that they have vacation and are worried about losing progress.

I try to tell them their fitness didn't happen overnight so it won't change overnight.

Needless to say this marathon tapper has me a little loopy.
So I would like to reiterate some of those ideas here not only for you but myself also!
Because, as some of you may have experienced at different times in your life when  you can't be active or do the things you like, be it because of a job, an injury, an up coming event, what ever it may be, you start thinking:

Ahhhhhh I wanna do something active. Or ahhhhh my metabolism is changing...

Now here are my suggestions of what you can do
The key is the bigger picture..... and think of these 3 ideas
1- I have to remember I need rest and nourishment for my up coming event
2- I won't lose or gain fitness during this time.
3- relax.... I mean it's just life right

There are also ways to keep yourself in check.... for example keeping your mind busy, finding other stress outlets or measuring your fitness in another way then maintaining your current routine.

Anyway that works for you is a great way.

As a way for me to get an outside look, as you all know, I take photos. This is how I keep myself in check at times when I don't have my own trainer. Which believe me a good trainer knows the value of having someone else train them.

But when I can't do that my photos keep me in mental check... So here is 3 weeks of hardly any lifting (maybe 3 days total of 5 lbs dumbbell work) and my running decreasing by 30-40%:

Now my carb, and by carb I mean non-complex carbohydrate, intake has nearly doubled eating bread and/or pasta in at least 2 meals a day. Instantly a change I can feel and slightly see *mostly I feel sleepy* but in the end will allow me to preform at my best. And really let's be honest if I am worried about this subtle of changes in my body something in my mind isn't balanced.

MOSTLY I WANNA RUN FAST! So thanks you carb squish in advance.

So 26.2 miles here we come!

So essentially what I am saying is.... as I always try to.... Enjoy life, try not to get too hung up on your routine that you can't handle change, and always try to do your best!
